AUGUST the heart shaped potato & other stories

August 15, 2010

This afternoon I dug up a heart shaped potato.  The dishevelled blackbird returned and sang me a song.  Tomatoes – cherry and plum – swelled.  Runner vines tangled and beans lengthened.  Leaves blew in the breeze and the sun threw shadows into puddles.  I continued to dig for a spud supper while a squirrel took a mud bath in the radishes.
